I think there's some key distinctions, but there's more of a through line, I think, between that model of social organization and contemporary societies.

Right.

Because we have women in the workforce and our jobs no longer require upper body strength or high risk tolerance for the most part.

Right.

So.

Women have the opportunity to earn income.

And, you know, like I said, most of human history, we were either hunter-gatherers or small family farmers.

So women were contributing to economic productivity, even within those models.

But agricultural society...

has different conditions and generally demands more specialization.

There's more stability that allows you to accumulate and store wealth.

You need armies to guard your wealth.

And you end up with a less flexible and less egalitarian social structure.

So gender roles get a little more entrenched.

I think what's interesting about contemporary society is that we are in flux between these different models of what we expect from men and women.

And men and women are changing at different rates.

Yeah, I think if we'd had more time and more funding, we probably would have done a preconception scan.

And so there's a really good study that came out when I was halfway through data collection for my dad's study.

It focuses on mothers and they were recruited from a fertility clinic.

So they were trying to get pregnant.
