You know, my wife and I like to joke, we wake up on a Saturday morning and like, Hey, do you wanna go for a bike ride today?
Yeah, that's awesome and then let's get lunch and let's watch a movie.
And now we're like, Okay, I can go for a bike ride in four Thursdays from, you know, this next weekend or whatever.
It's a really different experience, but you have to be intentional.
The other piece that I find is
If you the couples that are really successful in my therapy are the ones that can turn stress into intimacy.
And we could talk about the science of how that works and why it's powerful, but
If you can find a way to bond around stressful experiences, it's a chance for exponential growth.
I kind of call it like a nuclear superpower.
That most couples come in with this nuclear energy and they make bombs in the relationship.
But if you can make an energy facility that powers your relationship, it's so much more powerful.
So for example, the end of the day, you just put your
Autistic twins to bed.
They finally went down.
You sit down and you go.
Oh my god, sometimes I wish I could sell them and use it to buy a plane ticket to Aruba and your partner goes, Amen, sister brother Right, whatever.
Um just that moment of levity, that moment of like that was really hard, right?
Is really powerful.
Or taking it even deeper, right?
Uh I can't believe I yelled at my s daughter today and it reminded me of the promise that I had made growing up in an alcoholic family that I was never going to do that and I feel uh really ashamed.
