And it comes in that direction.
The last thing you want is a competent nurse that does not have the skills.
Right?
And we've seen that.
But this is why I look at this and you see these patterns of organizations that do not invest
in the systems and resources for their teams at the right time to ensure that every single nurse, every single provider, whether it's a physician or any other discipline, surgical technologist is coming into the environment where they're expected to provide care with demonstrated competency.
Now, all of us were nervous when we start.
Being nervous is not the same as being incompetent.
And I think sometimes we need to help people understand that.
And there is that healthy push that we give young nurses to, you're ready.
I know it doesn't feel like you're ready, but you have demonstrated your competence.
Now it's time for you to build your confidence.
and move into this space.
But I really feel strongly, you know, of course, as the CEO of AORN, I feel strongly about our resources, but I would tell you as a former chief nursing officer, I felt incredibly, I was passionate about the fact that we needed to build nursing practice through understanding what the guidelines for practice were, ensuring that our nurses were
understood them and practiced them on a day-to-day basis, then when they come into a situation, they're not left guessing, what do I stand on?
And I think those organizations, my experience over the years, as you said, I've worked in many different places.
My experience over the years has taught me that
The organizations that experience more aberrant behaviors related to civility or bullying are those organizations that if you looked closely, you would not see strong foundations of establishing competence.
And it does not mean that they have incompetent nurses.
