So this is the source of Odysseus' cunning because the Cyclops is blind and he feels the tops, but he doesn't feel the men beneath him.
It sounds like it's all good, right?
It sounds like he's got out of the island.
He's defeated the monster.
Perhaps he hasn't been the best guest, but, you know, that can all be lost.
Not great leadership.
But then he's out on the ocean in his boat and he cannot resist having one last vaunt, one last boast.
Now, what he did when he was with the Cyclops was that he tricked him by saying when the Cyclops asked his name.
We've seen that between guest and host when Alcinous asked for Odysseus's name.
The Cyclops also asked for his name.
He says, my name is no one.
And so, of course, when Cyclops gets blinded, he then shouts out to his brothers, no one has blinded me.
Very, very clever trick.
And then they're like, well, great.
Thanks for telling us on with our life.
So very, very clever of Odysseus.
However, he cannot resist having his name told.
And so he turns around in the ship and he shouts back to the Cyclops that he should know that the person who tricked him was Odysseus, son of Laertes.
He has.
And exactly, we talked about Odysseus and heroes being destructive to their communities.
