If it's going on
At the three-month mark, maybe do a telehealth.
Probably your GP will say let's wait for another three months before we start investigating anything.
And it usually has settled down by that time.
And then you've got five years of practically no bleeding, which is a bargain for me.
The other thing, though, is she mentioned a funny smell.
Mm-hmm.
And she could have bacterial vaginosis.
So it might not be connected at all to the Mirena.
Might not be at all.
But there are also some smelly sexually transmitted infections.
So I always think with a bad smell, probably go to your GP and get that checked out.
I'm not aware of that being associated with a Mirena at all.
So, Ange, your friend is 49 and she's in plum peri age and everything that you have described your friend going through is pretty much out of the textbook for the 80% of women who report getting brain fog around perimenopause.
And that is made worse by any hot flushes, insomnia, which is really ubiquitous around peri, and any mood issues, which is one in three women get a mood issue around peri.
And those three seem to be the drivers of your brain fog.
Having said all of which, it is always going to be worse if you are drinking more.
No, we're talking about your alcohol.
I would tell your friend maybe to go dry July, August, September, October, November.
And see how that goes for her.
