And by the way, it's not just what we're doing for ourselves.
We invest financially for our own security so that we're not a burden on others.
Investing in yourself physically, nutritionally, cognitively is an investment for others as well.
Look, aging is inevitable.
How you age is not necessarily so.
Sounds like a plan.
Is it a perfect simulation?
No.
But it's close enough to give you that aha for your grandmother or, frankly, the way my students, the researchers, and the companies we work with.
It's to give them a sense of what it's like to walk in that consumer's shoes, whether it's senior living, the drugstore, frankly, just going out to eat.
The fact of the matter is that most of us plan for retirement, but we don't prepare for retirement.
It sounds like a word game.
I don't mean it to be.
I want you to think about this.
Planning is much like a grocery list.
It's the intent to eat.
But anyone who's in charge of shopping, shall we say, we know that until it's in the cart, in the cabinet, or frankly on the plate, you're not eating.
And that's the preparedness.
The preparedness part is, are you aware of the things you need to do?
Are you giving it a little attention?
