So whether it's behind the pec muscle or the breast tissue, you are pushing it.
And it can cause some thinning of the breast tissue.
Now, from a breastfeeding perspective, the good news is that there are equivalent rates of women with and without implants who successfully breastfeed.
So it doesn't seem to impact that.
which is important.
If you had a preference, do you prefer before in front of the muscle or behind?
I prefer in front of the muscle because we're not taking away a very functional, I mean, you know this, right?
This is like the pec muscles, the most important shoulder stabilizer on the front of the body.
We don't want to weaken women's
shoulder and chest.
There is a downside to going in front, which can be in lean women, visibility of the implant edge.
So we would combine that with fat transfer.
But now that people don't have fat, we're combining it with aloe clay.
Which is the zombie, which is the zombie cells.
Yes.
Yeah, so the zombie breast augmentation.
So basically what I tell patients is like there's no perfect plane for placing a breast implant.
There's pros and cons.
But the con of going in front of this potentially more visible implant edge is one that you can mitigate by adding some soft tissue, whether that's their own or an off-the-shelf product.
And so that is the downside that I would rather work with personally than being told I can never do a push-up ever again.
