First, I think it's the genitals and the fact that we've still got an ick factor about genitals, specifically bodily fluids.

So we're generally not a culture that's out and proud about talking about what we do with our genitals, particularly if we're on our own.

And that on our own bit is the other aspect of the taboo where it's still considered, masturbation is still considered to be a poor substitute for intercourse, that we'd all rather be having intercourse if we could and therefore only wank

as out of desperation, out of loneliness, as a substitution for what we'd rather be doing.

Even though that's not true, that's the cultural narrative.

And part of that is also because schools are so frightened about talking about anything that talks about sex and frames it as pleasurable.

So there's so

education, but no one ever actually says, well, actually, you know, there's many ways to deal with your horniness.

And intercourse is not the only path to go down, as opposed to this sort of fixation they've got on how not to get pregnant and how not to get an STI.

And yet never having a detailed conversation about masturbation.

It's really fascinating and sad.

I'm sad that it's still going on as well.

And we don't have this thing now where we connect it to things like mental illness or bronchitis.

You know, throughout history, every single medical ailment has been linked to masturbation based on doctors doing in the 18th century, doing really shoddy investigations, i.e.

you come in and you're sick and I ask you, do you masturbate?

And it was connected to everything, you know, the blindness, the hair on the palms, you name it.

Masturbation was the cause.

That's why the vibrator was created.

That's it.
