Second, I saw it, a few expletives.
And then I said, got it.
30 minutes later, I took it out and it was gone and I was closed.
And the thing about that day was I got back into my car and I thought, wow, like the surgeon today is very different than the surgeon who came in in the morning.
I didn't think I could get myself out of trouble.
I knew I could.
Another transformation, another experience where
The world was the same.
Neurosurgery was the same.
Everything was the same, but me.
I was different.
And so, yes.
And does that still happen sometimes?
It can happen sometimes.
And that's where I sort of go through my IRISE protocol of identify that there's a black swan happening.
Reject your first impulse because it's almost always self-preservation.
inventory, other operatives, other things that you can do, stabilize, and then reevaluate.
And so that's my sort of process that I go through when I experience a black swan.
Wow.
So early days, we would go through areas of the brain that we knew were more dormant or not really what we call eloquent areas of the brain where you wouldn't see a deficit when you cut through.
