And they also knew what was in their review mirror, what used to be, and they did not want to go back there.
So I would say.
That level of leadership commitment is essential.
And I cannot underscore that enough because this culture change is initiated and sustained.
And that's the other key work is that sustainment.
And that goes to consistency.
It ties in with that.
What the leaders are willing to consistently do is incredibly important, not just what they support in theory.

And I agree that this team, Des was the manager at the time when this started and now has transitioned into the director of the emergency department and just continues to do a great job.
We recently had our kind of wrap up call and kind of, you know, moving into sustainment mode.
I wanted to understand from not only Des, but also the other leaders, like, what was like one of
of the key strategies or or what is something that like top three things or top one thing that you feel had the biggest impact?
And what they shared with me was the professional practice or the behavioral compact.
They said it became so incredibly important.
And they with this compact, I think why it was so successful to start from is because they did a few things.
Certainly they involved that shared governance structure that I was talking about, getting that frontline input was very important.
But then what they did is they wanted to make sure they got as much input from the frontline staff, again, not only nursing, but everybody.
