Which I think is such a cool thing because then you'll have the adults pretending to be injured to try and like tempt you away and stuff like that.
And it's like that's so clever.
Like how do they even evolve to do that?
But it's really cool.
There's this myth that if you touch baby birds, the parents are going to reject them because they can smell it or whatever, and it's not true.
Isn't it?
No, no, not at all.
And it's like, I think there's kind of two things going on with...
chicks though in that like you'll have the fledglings who they've left the nest but they're a bit rubbish they can't really fly yet so they're kind of they look like they're set around but the parents there they're looking after them best to leave them be unless there's like a cat or something around versus um if you've got a baby bird and it's a bit naked or it's kind of fluffy rather than feathered that's supposed to still be in the nest and actually the best thing to do is to scoop it up
and put it right back in the nest again yeah yeah because like they need such like round the clock feeding and attention that's like even more than like a couple hours out of the nest could be really disastrous so it's like obviously i'm not advocating for people to be like getting involved but actually sometimes just doing that little bit to help birds is it's important and it's the right thing to do
It's like, actually, if you think about how much effort the parents have put into getting it to that point, they're not going to just run away because it smells a bit weird.
Exactly, yeah.
Most of my first memories are probably actually of birdwatching.
And it wasn't until I started primary school that I realised not everyone is birdwatching all the time.
And I thought that was really weird when I was a kid.
So as I got older...
My parents were looking more and more to kind of the rest of the world to look for birds.
I just know some of my favourite birds in the world, they're so endangered as well.
Like personally, I'm very into like the big scary birds.
We've been talking a lot about birds of prey, actually.
