Are we then given that opportunity and that encouragement to speak up?

So it's kind of like we're just at that stage of like, do we keep it or do we say it?

And then we look to the social cues in the workplace.

So, like, um, I look at my leader, for example, because they're like a credible source of information, right?

Like if the leader is accepting of what I'm gonna say or they're open to hearing what I'm going to say, then I would more likely speak up and not withhold.

So humble behaviors are things like,

Leaders acknowledging their own shortcomings, they know their own mistakes, but they publicly express that.

They are also appreciative of their followers and their team members' inputs and their contributions to the team, so their uniqueness, but also open to feedback and ideas.

And that's what we call that teachability aspect of leaders.

And these types of behaviors are very encouraging because people can feel that.

Okay, even if my leader makes mistakes, they know their shortfalls, like it's okay.

So if I say something and if it's not okay, it it's more of a learning process for us as as workers, as team members, as organizational citizens.

Regardless of how effective or how humble, for example, your leader is, if the team, for example, doesn't have a shared commitment to learning, to improving, or to strive for their goals, then it doesn't matter how effective your leader is, you're still going to remain silent, for example.

So there is kind of that shared, there has to be that shared understanding.

Um, so that's from a team aspect, right?

But I assume also from an individual perspective.

perspective as well.

Personality has a strong play in this as well.

If you're more extroverted, for example, or culture as well.

If you we know that like if you come from a more uh power high power what we call high power distance culture or you grew up in a country where you know speaking up is kind of not encouraged.
