And then they started going and he said, they just had the most amazing conversation.

She had such

a richer and more complicated background than, you know, the stereotypes that we put on each other would ever guess.

I mean, people are so much deeper than the first instincts that we have are so much richer and interesting.

She'd grown up in a very conservative religious family that she'd broken away from over the years and was going to be married off very young.

I mean, she was in tears in this conversation.

They had a very meaningful conversation.

And at no point did he tell me that, you know, there was some concern about being misperceived there because it was genuine, right?

You bring two people together, it ought to be two people having a conversation with each other.

And for the fellows who are listening to this podcast, be a person with somebody else.

And I think you've got a lot more power there to come across as genuine as you might fear.

Right.

Particularly if you are genuine, you're legitimately trying to hit on somebody.

Well, that's your own, that's your own problem to deal with, right?

Or your own issue, whatever.

Maybe you want to make it clear that you are interested in somebody romantically that has its own set of challenges.

But if you're worried about being misperceived, I think that's an exaggerated fear and you should just get over it.

Yeah, I mean, I think this is one where we're always going to have this to some extent, but again, with experience comes wisdom.

Practicing these things just makes you realize that people are much richer than whatever your first good instinct is likely to be about somebody.

You just don't know.
