Because progressivism now is tied to identitarianism.
So you get this fragmentation or atomization of your community into different identity first, individual second, country distant third, and suddenly your country's divided.
Now, this is very different to what the – and I'll call it – what the Labor Party go around and tell everybody.
The Labor Party say that the right side of politics is responsible for the division.
I take it completely differently.

I sit there and look in those sort of terms.
Look at it in those sort of terms.

If success requires adhering to a list of identities or benefiting from government requires adhering to a list of identities that the government thinks are acceptable, then you are going to split people into those identity groups.
And that's a problem.
Force them to take sides.

And this is why you get One Nation rising up, because there are enough people in the country that look at that and go,
That's not the way I want to be.
They just feel something's wrong.

And that, to me, is the great opportunity for conservative politics in Australia.
