Though over time that then translates to the child and then who becomes an adult, their ability to be disciplined themselves, right?
To keep themselves accountable, moving in action.
Right.
And if and when they have consequences, evaluate them and modify their behavior accordingly.
So discipline again, very general concept of awareness and maintenance to some extent of limits or boundaries.
And so when child in childhood, when one of two things happened, right, our environment was so out of control, so unpredictable, right?
Andor no one around us was defining any limits at all for us or themselves or anyone in their world.
Typically, right, what would have happened for a child in that environment, it would have felt probably pretty unsafe, pretty unpredictable, unpredictability immediately will feel unsafe to our nervous system, especially right if what was happening around us was chaos, was trauma, right?
Then it would feel very highly unsafe.
So a beautiful adaptation in childhood for some of us is to
try to gain control.
In any way possible, of ourselves, of our environments around us, of our other people, even, we extend that control outward in a an attempt.
To gain a sense of predictability or simply
Safety.
So for a lot of us that can turn into right to some extent, yeah, on the one hand, discipline's a healthy thing it
Keeps us and others.
Moving toward her.
Goals, you know, taking care of ourself, being respectful of other people.
We love it.
They're celebrated.
