So guilt and I wanna kind of bleed into
Very similar though different emotion, but oftentimes can either be experienced together or somewhat similarly, shame.
So we have this conversation somewhat together because they're somewhat related and they originate in childhood and they can very much continue to drive our current habits.
So what guilt says really kind of surfacely is I feel bad about what I've done.
What shame says, so instead of feeling bad about an action, as is the case with guilt in a simple way, shame is where we we don't necessarily feel we're not feeling bad about what we've done, we're feeling worse, put it this way, about who we are.
Perhaps what we how what we have done reflects on who we are.
So that says more I feel bad about me, who I am in this moment.
And both
those emotions, shame in particular, right, is what is is known as a social emotion.
And so all of our emotions, believe it or not, whether it's guilt, whether it's sadness and loss and happiness and joy and anger and anxiety and and you know fear.
They have an evolutionary purpose, meaning when they happen in our body, right?
They map onto different sensations, like, you know, temperature changes, different sensations that are happening in our body, constriction of our muscles, right?
We all kind of understand that's the thing.
