Where we're not actually independent, we can't leave.
We also can't soothe ourselves.
Our nervous system can't regulate on its own.
So for a lot of us, the safest thing that we could do, and this began way back then, was begin to check out in different ways, right?
Begin to live in our mind.
In childhood, for a lot of us, it begins like in a fantasy world and an imaginative world where we imagine we're part of a different family or different things are happening in our life or
It can be translated to doing, producing the school system, right?
I think creates an entire, you know, experience of
Thinking of doing right.
And some of these things are celebrated depending on what gendered body you're born into, depending on what society.
A lot of things have been normalized, such as not living in our mind.
What was coming to mind when you even said that was who was it, Descartes, who said, I think, therefore I am.
There's even right, there was we're still trying to figure out what we really are as a human.
And there has been theorists that have thought thinking is what makes us be.
And so what we've now understood is that that's part of the story, the things that we think, but another right big part of it.
is how do we feel?
Yet we have this environment.
These relationships where being present or embodied was the most unsafe thing that we could be.
And so checking out in all these ways that either worked given our individual circumstances and or were validated by our greater kind of belief systems and societal beliefs.
And now we do have an epidemic, I believe, of a lot of adults in general who either spend little time in their bodies and or are ill-equipped, don't have the tools to be with the stress and the discomfort that they are experiencing in their bodies.
