Not true.
The research says it can be an individual activity.
It's commonly joint, but it can be individual, meaning someone can upset you and leave your life.
You can still forgive them.
But that kind of overlaps with this.
I'm not going to ever get the apology.
But here's the thing about forgiveness.
Forgiveness is not about justifying wrong behavior.
Forgiveness is not about making people have conditional terms.
So like, I forgive you if you did this thing.
So, or I'll forgive you if you apologize.
Right.
And I think that's where this overlaps right here to say, I'm not going to forgive you unless you apologize.
And what we would say from the forgiveness research is you don't actually need an apology to forgive someone.
You can decide that they are never going to give it.
