You can decide that they no longer owe you something and you're going to stop waiting around for them to say something or do something.
But we'll do that as a separate episode because that's its own giant topic or episodes.
It mixes up the math a bit when we ask for forgiveness.
So I think it's cleaner if we say, when I apologize, I take responsibility.
When I forgive, I cut the ties that somebody owes me something.
And I'm not going to mix them up.
But we do do that, though.
We culturally have been told, ask for forgiveness.
Yeah, I think, I mean, getting back to the empty apology because of the repeated bad behavior, that's a tough one.
And I think the reason it's tough is that the behavior contradicts the sorry.
And because of that contradiction, once it's repeated, it keeps losing... If you think about it in percentage, it was 50% effective.
Now you did it again, 49.
Now you did it again, 48.
And it keeps going down.
And I think you and I stop believing that apology pretty quickly when we just see that this is just going to be...
I mean, abusers do this.
I'm not calling your brothers abusers, by the way.
We can go back to that example because you had where they went through the shoes because he tripped that one night, right?
So then you have to go deeper into the apology and say, so do you really understand?
I mean, he had to basically do that and say, do you really understand the threat this has?
