And be willing to go into that meeting that you didn't like so much at work.
Or be willing to go into that story of why your aunt called you and you're mad about that.
Or whatever.
No, it is.
And and I mean we can we can get into the research in a minute, but you you have to decide on the communication choices you're making what you're trying to do on the relational goal side.
So it's up to you to decide: do I want this relationship to be important to me, to be functioning, to be effective, to be good?
And when we get lazy in our communication, I think we're showing a lack of commitment to that relational goal.
Which is no, I'm in this.
So I'm gonna hear your stuff.

And but I think too often if we get into that shallow conversation, we're gonna be stuck and not know how to get out.
And I sometimes hear I this is kind of a stereotype, but you hear maybe older people getting into that a little bit.
And I think we could we could even ask ourselves, do do things feel stale?
First thing I'd ask yourself is what kind of questions are you asking?
And are you hanging around for the answer?
And are you willing to go down the path and then the other thing that's also challenging and not make it about you?
So it's not about what you think.
It's not about confirming the narrative in your head.
It's not about deciding how the story turns out or that it's right or wrong.
