And I think confirming that narrative in your head.

So that's the idea that I can tell by looking at you, I know how that work meeting went that we talked about.

And so I'm not gonna ask you about it.

Or I'm only gonna ask you things that confirm the narrative in my head.

So I might say, So your meeting wasn't very good, huh?

Very leading, closed question.

That's confirming that I already thought your meeting was bad.

So I'm just gonna confirm it.

But I'm I'm really not being very effective in my versatility of my communication tools there because I'm just trying to confirm my own narrative.

And if I'm only confirming my own narrative, let's be honest about what that is.

I if I think something and then I only go around this world trying to get confirmation that what I think is right.

Um well I think uh one strategy that I would recommend a lot is and it it really makes the the you, the communicator, have to do a little bit more d um effective listening.

But the strategy would be mirroring.

And mirroring is a strategy that was popularized by Chris Voss, not created by Chris, but

In the popular book, Never Split the Difference.

And basically, um, the strategy is that the person gives you an answer of some kind of um sentence, and I'll give you an example in a second.

They'll give you an answer and then you take one or two words out of the thing that they just said and query about it.
