But if you go into it impulsively, you have a rough day, but you're just like, say like really eating the food quickly, not mindfully, probably you're going to feel guilty about it afterwards.
Beat yourself up.
That negative self-talk is going to lead to shame and guilt and lead to then another behavior.
So it's the thought that follows the behavior that actually determines the next thing.
Exactly.
So if you, what I often say to my clients is if you really want it, have it, but sit down, plate it, mindfully eat it and enjoy it.
If you're eating over the counter, if you're impulsively eating, you're mindlessly eating, you don't feel in control.
And then most of the time, the negative thoughts start.
So if you can go into it with this acceptance that I really want this and I'm going to eat it, who cares?
Enjoy it.
Move on.
