Yes, we regularly see centipedes in this cave here.
Oftentimes the Maya would have to submit to crawling like this then, especially when they're getting into big open rooms.
Sort of submitting to the gods of the underworld so they can get into that open space.
So in the Maya, traveling through spaces like this, they're using torches usually made from pitch pine.
The first group that came in here in 1982 actually identified several pieces of torches in here.
In the very back, close to what we call the skylight, we have holes that's been cut into the walls as torch holders.
Oh cool.
Light is very interesting in here.
Light will spread across limestone.
This is just his natural ability of limestone to spread light across the room.

Maybe up here we can do a little test up here so you can see what it looks like.

I mean, I've been into this cave quite a handful of times, and every time I come in, I see something new in this cave itself.
And imagine the Maya coming in all the time, well, at least once a year.
But you'd have fires going, music going, probably imbibing in some kind of alcoholic drink.
If you look even in these corners, you can start to see ceramics in there, you know, ceramics over here.
This is a very, very big chamber here.
So here, like I told you, that big open space I was talking about, this is what we're looking at here.
