But I think there's some things you really have to look at and consider

when you make that decision, not just because she raised if it's a real dink, then maybe.

But if it's nothing really wrong with it, just small, maybe give her another chance, particularly in in this environment.

Yes, it does.

And like I said, there's there's a lot of reasons that calf may come in under what you'd expect it to be.

And then a lot of times we really take care of the heifers.

We may not take care of that second calf cow at the same level.

And so when your comment there, what does she come back in looking like in her second calf and lactation and rebreeding?

If you can afford to keep some of 'em around like that, I'd sure think it's a good idea.

I probably in years past would've kept those cows, but I've my old age is has no following for that anymore.

If we have a ninety-day breeding season, and there's very few calves born in that last thirty days.

Why we don't just cut it off and shorten that up, make our calf crop more uniform?

It decreases the amount of time you gotta wait to get branding done and everything else, so most of it could shorten that up and get rid of those late calvin cows, particularly if they're historically gonna do that.

And sometimes that's set up by how

late they are in the calving season in their first years, like you said, you kept all those heifers that one year.

Do they it's very difficult to back 'em up, but it's real easy for them to stay at the end of the calving season.

Yeah, I don't think there's any real reason to keep a cow around that may have bad feet or they're maybe getting lame a little bit.
