You mentioned body condition and environment.

Sometimes I think we all try to think all the cows ought to be the same.

I think there's a room for a lot of different types of cows.

I go by a philosophy that if I can set my nutritional parameters by I'm gonna make sure they have adequate forage.

I'm gonna supplement a certain level.

And then cows that will fit within that production system and maintain body condition and maintain reproductive performance, that's great.

But if they fall out because they're not adapted to my management and my environment,

That's how I think you build an environmentally and a ranch adapted cow.

There's some people like you said earlier that can feed enough

To compensate for some of these higher energy requirement cows.

That may work in this market.

But if the market's pretty limited and you go to spending that much on feed, which is probably our second, maybe even third highest expense, then yeah, we've got problems.

So I I think that's where you kind of set the parameters by which you're going to manage, whether it's being feed and harvested forages, grazable forage, standing forage, whatever it is, but you know how you're going to manage what cows can.

fit within that environment and that's management strategy.

So that's something I think that we just kinda have to set a baseline.

There are gonna be years when you have to go above and beyond on supplementation or feeding.

just to maintain the cow herd or I think you should this market is one of those scenarios.

We can afford to put a little more input into these cows when the calves are bringing this much.

But

In reality you don't want to get in the habit of always having to do that because then you eat up what this excess profit we keep talking about.
