If you're not uh doing A exercise, but B eating enough protein as well.
Mm-hmm.
For some people who say, look, um I've I'm eating exactly the same and I'm still putting on weight and I'm getting the sort of tie around my my belly, how do you sort of gently explain what might be going on to them?
I mean, you've already mentioned a couple of reasons already, but but this is something that we get asked about a lot.
Yeah, I love that.
And on the subject of zooming out, I just want to underline that proportion plate, 'cause you've that wonderful image in your book of the half plate.
But what why why don't you just describe that again for us, the half vegetables and then the other quarters?
Uh it's like you're reading my mind.
Is that literally this is how I think when I'm at a barbecue or I'm at a restaurant or I'm trying to mix and match something from the WH Smith because I find myself without dinner and I'm like on a train coming back to London or something like that, and I'm like grabbing a piece of fruit and there's some hummus here and some veg here and I need to find a core protein somewhere.
And that that's literally how
We think about recipes in the doctor's kitchen and on our app as well.
It's like
It's like ensuring that you're starting with that core protein, loads of veg.
And there is tons of evidence around getting three portions of vegetables at every plate, because I think it was the uh Burden of Disease Study looking at the number of vegetables per day.
And you want to be aiming for around 800 grams per day, which sounds a lot, but when you start mixing and matching and you're ensuring that
But I think.
half your plates that sort of harder vegetable, as you put it, like you'll easily smash through that.
And that's associated with a whole bunch of like not only uh benefits in the moment, like you've described on your on your programme, but also a long term reduction in incidence of uh a bunch of cancers and cardiovascular disease and some of the biggest killers like uh dementia as well.
Totally.
Absolutely.
