Of course, you don't want a patient to come to harm.
So, you know, someone's going to die.
You're not going to stick to your mind and go, no, my boundary is I must finish at six o'clock or 6.30.
You'd flex.
But I suppose when there's the repeat, I think I've said to people, be a pattern disruptor.
So notice a pattern if something's happening for the same reason to do with that particular person.
So if you're always being asked to stay behind late to see an extra patient because someone else is always running late because they start their clinic late, for example,
then that's not really your problem.
But you could be seen as the person who should fix it for whatever reason, maybe the most senior person there, or you're just seen as the most approachable or whatever it is.
And so I think for me, it's like, if there's a pattern that I'm seeing where I'm being, my boundaries kind of being,
being asked to flex my boundary repeatedly I once again get to the root cause of that what's that about have I been unrealistic with my boundary and actually is do I need to do I need to re-look at that or is there something else going on for somebody else or in the system or the organization that is meaning that's true and that could be the case of both at work but also for myself you know I might set myself a boundary like you say around I don't know um
I don't think of an example now, but maybe doing some exercise in the morning, for example.
If I'm never managing to kind of get up to do that, then am I being unrealistic with the time that I've set?
Or is there actually something else going on that's meaning, this isn't only applicable to me, but meaning I don't have the energy at that time in the morning.
So I suppose it's being curious.
Yeah, with that.
Does that answer the question or what else were you thinking?
Yeah, that's so true.
I think maybe when we're coaching somebody and we're looking at setting boundaries, I think a lot of the work probably we'd do is encourage them to look at that and what might get in the way of that boundary.
How realistic is that?
