The authors were very careful to note that the effects were small and more research is needed to find the ideal pattern of breaks, which is exactly the kind of science I really honestly appreciate.
But think about the impact that
three minutes can make.
You've heard before, take a five minute break every hour or get up from your desk.
And maybe you've internalized that and said, not right now.
But if you can have those gains potentially, and certainly if nothing else, it just allows you to breathe, breathe freer and get away from the screen for a moment.

You know, all the things, just the day-to-day things that, you know, challenge us at times when we're seated and still for lengthy durations.
There was also an earlier review in BMJ Open, the British Medical Journal, on the acute effects of breaking up prolonged sitting on cognition.
And it found that some studies showed benefits to attention, working memory, like the previous study I mentioned, and cognitive flexibility.
So that's an interesting one, sort of the flexibility of the mind.
Although the evidence, again, was mixed and protocols varied, which is very typical in research.
That's why we need a lot of studies so that we can start teasing out what really is going on.
But it matters because while we shouldn't oversell this concept, we absolutely should not ignore it.
There's enough research stacking up in a variety of areas
This one, cognition and mental mood being one of them.
So it's not that a two-minute walk or a three-minute short break will solve everything in your whole life and make you healthy and vital.
But a short break can help your brain come maybe back online more smoothly.
