And that settlement, it never went to court, but that settlement followed...
almost 800 failed legal actions in the US.
And I'm pretty sure I'm correct in saying that no one in Europe or the UK ever got any money out of a tobacco company for health harms.
So there was one single successful lawsuit.
And I think we're now seeing those kind of legal actions creating a mandate for change.
But it was what the settlement led to was all of the regulations, the plain packaging, the warning labels, the high taxation and the end of sponsorship in sport.
And that is the reason that no one in this tent is smoking or indeed allowed to smoke.
Chris has said this to me before, and I think in the background is that I've often felt maybe not smug about not smoking, but I've always said I don't smoke because I know it's bad for me.
I'm a doctor, and so I choose not to do it.
We mentioned this headline in The Guardian earlier on, putting that 80% responsibility.
And there is a little thing to note in that report.
If you go and read it, it talks about the sensible use of supplements.
And that prompted Zahn and I to go and look at who had written the report.
And some of the authors of the report have an interest, a significant interest, in a company that sells supplements.
Now, that doesn't mean the whole report is wrong, but lots of industries...
historically have lent very hard into the narrative of personal responsibility.
That when you have a health problem, it is down to your inaction, your inactivity, your laziness, your weak-willedness.
And my favourite example was the lead paint industry.
And it was useful in paint.
It helped make paint white.
