He's the new baseball coach at New Mexico State University, the worst program in the nation.

And so I sit down with him, help him find his why, how, and his what, his why was was trust, his how was right way, and his what was contributed.

So he wants to be the trusted guide.

He wants to create structure around doing it the right way, and he wants to help others have a bigger impact.

I said, How does that feel to you, Brian?

And he goes, Well, that's me to a T, man.

That's what I talk about, it's what I preach, it's what I'm all about.

I need you to help me with my team.

So I went down to Las Cruces, New Mexico, and I took his coaches, assistant coaches, and players all through discovering their why, how, and what.

And we created a real big matrix, like I was just talking about.

At lunch, I said, Brian, I want you to circle all your favorite players.

So he starts circling his favorite players, and they all ended up having similar why, how and what to him.

And I said, well, Brian, if you could use this to do recruit and build your team, would that be valuable for you?

And he said, Boy, that would I would love to do that.

So that's what he did.

He built his whole team around their why, how, and what.

He had the biggest turnaround in the history of the NCAA.

He went on to have a four-year run of 34 plus win seasons in a row, nine players taken in the major league draft, 12 All-Americans.

He then got hired away to Washington State University, where he did the exact same thing there.

They were on their own tenure slump.
