The extremely cold weather much of the country has been enduring extends as far south as Florida, and that is forcing NASA to delay the wet dress rehearsal of the launch of Artemis II, the crewed mission to orbit the moon in preparation for a lunar landing.
The delay in the rehearsal now means the launch won't happen until Sunday, February 8th at the earliest.
The crew of four are planned to circle past the moon to a distance away from Earth no humans have ever reached.
They'll also be the first to fly in an Orion multipurpose crew vehicle, a capsule developed by NASA for long-distance space travel.

Health experts are warning residents in places like Tennessee and Mississippi that with yet another blast of extremely cold weather comes the risk of hypothermia.
The warning is specific to communities enduring power outages and homes going without proper heating in the midst of sustained extraordinary cold weather not normally felt in places with warmer climates.
Cold exposure can be deadly certainly even for usually healthy people when enduring that cold for days on end.
And while generators can power things like space heaters, carbon monoxide poisoning is also a major cause of death in these situations.
Generators should be run outdoors with exhaust pointed away from the house.
