One of the things I kept hearing and seeing when I was doing research for this episode was that there's two types of criminals inside jails.
And that is the criminals that are there for that got arrested and the ones that are guarding them.

And a pension is so valuable if you want to try to retire, especially if you're a soldier and have PTSD.
Yeah, because in prison, everybody's scanning you for vulnerabilities.

My uncle was telling me how he, like, would see this, like, multiple people eat their own shit.

You know, it's like, oh, fuck, yeah.

So Ralph Hill, he kind of screwed the pooch for the other cops with this incident.
After he went down in a hail of bullets, that pretty much solidified the other guard's fate as guilty.
The sentences doled out to these criminals with badges were varied, but not that stiff.
Alfred Barnes, Gregory Dixon, and Alan Moore got one year in prison, three years probation, and a couple thousand dollar fine.
E. LaVon Spence got one year house arrest, mostly because he suffered a stroke after his arrest.
And Vincent Johnson, the guard that tried to silence and abuse women, he just got probation.
One former resident of FCI Tallahassee, Ashley Turner, said that the scheme had been going on longer than two years and involved three times as many guards as the amount reprimanded.
