I said I was concerned about the use of humanitarian aid as a weapon.
And so I said that if the vote came up, then I would not support offensive weapons.
I put that statement out in July.
I think that Americans have no idea how dangerous it is to politicize intelligence.
Right.
And just to explain what I mean, you know, when there is a threat that comes in, you get a classified report of a group or a country or an organization that's plotting a threat.
What do you do with that threat when it hits your agency?
Normally, you push it up the chain, and even if it's a friendly group or even if it's a country we're negotiating with or someone who we really would rather not have a threat come from, you got to call, again, balls and stripes and say, country X is plotting something or a group inside country X is plotting something, and we've got to alert our chain of command and do something about this.
If you have someone in that chain of command who is like,
you know, Don, we really don't want to create an incident right now.
We don't need this.
The president's in the middle of a big negotiation.
He doesn't want to talk about this.
The president took military action and he didn't want to talk about it anymore.
So we're just going to put all that under the rug.
That threat festers and risks the lives of Americans here in the homeland or abroad.
And so when you start taking out people whose job it is to speak truth to power, you risk politicizing intelligence.
And this is what I'm concerned about from the current director of national intelligence.
from the heads of agencies that have been put in by Donald Trump, who have shown that if the president says, change your analytic line, don't say that that's, you know, the bombing in Iran, right?
I said that it obliterated all their nuclear capability.
