And so what did that look like on a sort of day to day basis?
Are you sort of implementing, you know, you have a team that comes up with different kinds of how are we going to respond to this initiative?
Is that how it works?
I'm so glad that you mentioned DACA.
Maybe we could familiarize some of our listeners with what the program is if they're not familiar.
Of course, DACA started by you in 2012, and it's a program that allows a group of undocumented young adults who arrived in the United States when they were children to be protected from deportation.
They're supposed to register and then apply for renewals every two years, if I remember correctly.
Part of this is you mentioned the idea of implementation, how to implement the president's will or his or her policies.
And of course, that goes back to Article 2.
In Article 2, Section 3, we have the Take Care Clause.
And of course, Section 3 states that the president shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.
Now, on the one hand, the clause imposes a kind of obligation or duty on the part of the president.
That means the president and really the executive branch must execute the laws Congress passes.
On the other hand, the take care clause is also a presidential power.
It's the executive branch alone that has the authority to make sure federal law is followed.
Now, previously, when you've talked about DACA, you've mentioned that when you first created it, you and your team focused a lot on the word shall.
I wonder if you could talk a little bit more about that.
