Like, how could it be?
Like, you know, how could we have gone through everything we went through?
And, you know, how did he survive what he survived?
And for it to just turn out that his treatment didn't work, like, you know, and, like, to be the first child, from what I understand, in the world that this treatment hadn't worked for.
But, like, I look at that as this is meant to be, like, you know, like, like, nothing we could have done could change anything, like, you know, and there's only so much you can do, I suppose, ultimately, like, you know, like, if something like that happens, like, you have to look far beyond, I suppose, like, you have to look to say, right, this isn't right, like, you know, and that day, then, like, my mentality changed, really, to, like, I was thinking about why were we in Dublin, like, then, I thought it was so, like, we could have a good life, or whatever, so we could survive, then I thought, like, no, maybe it's before us,
Like, we're lucky enough that we had two nurses, Ellen and Eileen, who worked in the chemistry, who were really close.
I suppose, like, we had support in the hospital as well.
Like, you know, like, we got really close with them and, like, we loved them and they loved Rhi and they ultimately ended up becoming, we got Rhi baptized a few weeks before he died and they ultimately ended up becoming his godparents, like, which is really nice to have that connection so they can have that connection with Rhi as well forever.
So a few months, I think like three months before he died, two months before he died, I think it was maybe, he seemed to be in a bit of pain and we ended up in the hospital again.
It turns out he had like five fractures and he couldn't move.
I was the only one that would ever lift him.
He kind of couldn't, he used to just kind of stay in one room.
I used to be able to bring him out in his buggy and I used to bring him for walks every day before this point.
but he'd have like an oxygen tank with him, he'd have his bypass, he'd have his cough assist, he'd have every machine with you like, you know, but he used to love being outside, he used to love the trees, he'd see the trees and he'd like just smile.
He just seemed to be in pain and they did x-rays and he had like five fractures all over his body.
Fast forward a few weeks, I did everything, everything I could.
I found out he was going to die six months before he died.
I didn't work a day.
From the day I found out he was going to die, I didn't work again.
I just said, no, I want to be with him every second of the day.
