So we have to start understanding that two things can be right at the same can be accurate at the same time.

What ends up happening

the Black person voices things from their perspective and the non-Black person calls them wrong.

And once that happens, we feel, and it's so clear, once that happens, we're now gaslit.

And when any human being is gaslit, they start defending their positionality because their literal psyche is at risk.

When you gaslight me,

I either have to defend my psyche or feel crazy.

Those are the only two options.

So when you gaslight me and tell me there is no racism in Mississippi, I either have to go, oh, wow, I must be crazy then, because I thought there was.

Or I have to come back at you and say, yes, there is.

Here's the mountain of evidence for that to be true.

Instead, I want the non-Black person

to humble themselves and say, maybe someone else had a lived experience that is different from mine, but equally valid.

And we are not good at doing that.

And the non-Black community is historically

not good at doing that when listening to black voices and they tell us things like you should just get over it that was so many years ago i get so angry do you know that this past weekend was emmett till's birthday and that man would have been 85 years old if he if he was still alive and to put that in context morgan freeman is 85 years old and we expect morgan freeman to go be an a-list celebrity performing in movies

So when people like that was years and years ago, no, it wasn't.

It was in our lifetime, as evidenced by Morgan Freeman, is the same age of the dude who was killed in 1955.

So it doesn't make any sense the way Black people are treated when we're voicing.

All we're saying is, hey, this is our lived experience.
