We provide free legal services to Mountain View residents 60 or older targeting clients that are low income or at risk of abuse or loss of independence.
We provide our services locally at appointments at Mountain View Senior Center
and by phone for clients that cannot leave their homes or with emergencies.
We are a current CDBG grantee, and we thank you for that support.
Your funding supports expanded availability of our services to Mountain View residents.
We were also a CDBG grantee in 2025-26.
A summary about our services is included in the staff report for the CAPER.
Specifically, the CAPER notes, Sala provided free legal services to 59 Mountain View residents
60 or older, I want to share some additional information with you about those clients.
86% of these clients had very low incomes at or below 50% of the median income.
They would not be able to pay a private attorney for the services we provided.
41% of these Mountain View clients were 75 or older, placing them at higher risk of abuse or loss of independence per the Older Americans Act.
Under the Older Americans Act, our major funder, SALA cannot charge fees for our services or accept fee-generating cases.
The primary way we support our services is through grants like Mountain View CDBG.
Your funding helped us provide the highest level of service possible to Mountain View seniors last year, and it will continue to do that this year.
