It can be to frame it up as, you know, review of my pay or review of my salary or what my earning potential could look like.
And that way you're also setting it up so that if the manager turns around and says, hey, there's not room at the moment
for these reasons.
And I'd like to think businesses can give some reasons for us to increase your pay at the moment, but here's what needs to happen or here's how we can get to, you know, a pay point 10K more.
Yeah, pay increases can be a little bit like a sugar hit.
They can feel like the idea of it is, well, if I just earn 5K more, if I just earn 10K more, yeah, I'll put up with it.
I won't feel underpaid.
The higher volume workload will be worth it.
I'll be happy then.
And in reality, that's very rarely what actually happens.
You get that burst.
Yeah.
And then- You normalize.
You normalize, yeah.
And you realize, oh, the work still feels the same.
The workplace still feels the same.
So looking at the broader picture, there's absolutely a conversation we could have there about just, again, a double check.
Maybe you're having the conversation, you're just seeing what that potential looks like in the current workplace, particularly if you're on the fence, but you're using that as a data point to then make further decisions.
Yeah, and I love the idea of not being a passenger in your career.
