I suppose if a really like high end or specialty coffee roaster was like, hey, if you don't like this specific thing we do, it's not for you.
As someone who likes it, it might tell me, oh, you're really thinking about the customer here.
Is that the mechanism by which this works?
So how well do ads that are specifically targeted like that, how well do they perform versus generic ads?
Like everyone loves our coffee, even though secretly maybe people won't because it's too dark for them.
What's happening in my head as a consumer when I read a discerning or dissuasive ad like this?
What's going on when I see an ad saying this product's for me and not other people?
What's going on?
Part of me thinks that consumer might think that they're trying to use reverse psychology on me.
They're trying to get me to engage a theory of missing out.
I'm going to be skeptical.
Like, why are they telling me that other people don't need this and I do?
