Was it the sort of thing where when you made that decision, did you feel like you would be being duplicitous if you didn't tell them you were pregnant?

But it is impossible.

That is one of the life stages where it is impossible to know what you should be saying yes or no to.

The idea of planning something that is totally unpredictable.

I literally this morning...

had to say no to something I really, really wanted to do that was about five weeks postpartum.

And I was going back and forth thinking, I really want to do this thing.

I should be okay.

Like I was pretty good postpartum last time.

I should be okay.

But you don't want to be that dick who pulls out last minute because things have changed.

So it's so tricky.

But I had a similar experience to you, Holly, saying no to a big editorial job.

I was editor-in-chief here.

And there was sort of, I remember I got called into a room and asked, okay, so what do you think the next few years look like?

Where do you want to go?

What do you want to do?
