Well yes, we have to teach that in the same way that we would teach phonics or how a river works or the water cycle or whatever.

I think something just popped into my head while you're talking as well, Sarah, is the fact that as teachers of younger children, one of the most brilliant yet equally frustrating parts of it is if you teach the same year group for two consecutive years.

You cannot believe how far the children have come by the end of the year when you inherit the next year group that come up.

You've got them for the full year, then you send them off to year two and then you get your next class in.

You you almost have to like reset yourself cognitively to say, right, hang on.
