Dancing and swimming too.

Back to swimming again, but this time it's skinny dipping.

And it's by a poet called Jean O'Brien.

And I just love this poem because it's a bit of fun.

And it describes the contortions that Irish people get into on Irish beaches.

when they're trying to change under towels.

And, you know, we had a hot week this week, but my memory of Irish summers can be quite mixed with rain and cold and goose bumps and all that kind of stuff.

I love the humour in this poem.

So Skinny Dipping by Jean O'Brien.

I'm Irish.

We keep our clothes on most of the time.

We perform contorted dances on beaches in Cork or Donegal, undressing under not yet wet towels, worried that any gap might expose us, lay some body part bare.

It was the immaculate conception that did it.

If Mary could conceive a child without removing her knickers, then by God, the rest of us could undress and swim without burying our buttocks.

We swam serene in freezing seas, goosebumps freckling our pale skin.
