Now, that is also where you have to consider how does misogyny play out in our structural decision making and the decisions that people are taking.

How does the prioritization of this crime work when people at the Treasury or wherever they are are making a decision as to how much to invest in this area?

Because it will take a woman seven years, 35 instances of harm before she feels able to make that call.

And if you can't catch her at that point, you've lost her for a good period of time, maybe forever.

And what does that result in?

That results in harm, that results in harm to children, that results in people's life outcomes being really diminished.

It results in suffering, human suffering, and we're allowing that to happen.

You know, on the one hand, yes, there's all the stuff with reform, which we've described as not acceptable as it's being presented.

But there's also what currently happens now.

And actually, if you had survivors who were able to mobilize their voices because they are being properly protected, properly supported, they could speak out against what they think isn't representative of their voice.

They could say, well, actually, no, this politician or that politician, that doesn't speak for me.

I need this.

But where you have survivors that are unable to get help and support, who are trapped in relationships because we as a society are keeping them there because we're not investing in their safety.

then you're allowing these other narratives to perpetuate because you're not giving the people who need the voice the voice that they need to have.

So essentially, I always say that the services on the ground, so by that I mean the refuges that women and children seek safe accommodation in when they're escaping abuse, the community-based services that provide legal support, therapeutic support,

emotional support, counselling, supporting a woman to stay safe, helping her navigate through the policing and the criminal justice systems.

These are the services that almost allow everything else around a survivor to unfold and happen.

So be that a criminal justice outcome, so the perpetrators brought to justice, children able to change schools or remain in schools,
