So, you know, this government has absolutely committed to Harbing Fork.

And I can see a real genuine commitment there.

And often you can see that in the legislation, no doubt about it.

But when it comes to the infrastructure supporting those women and children who need the help, that's where we're seeing the flaws.

I mean, you have just shared.

Those are stats that we are all painfully aware of.

And politicians are painfully aware of, as a sector, we're painfully aware of those stats.

We see it in that failed demand, that failed sort of response to demand.

And what they outline is an epidemic of violence against women and children.

And what we haven't got is a societal response equivalent to the magnitude of that epidemic.

If we want to take violence against women and children seriously, we need to invest in services, we need to hold perpetrators properly accountable, we need to make the systems around survivors work for survivors, and...

we need to ensure that the cultural context in which we're operating doesn't allow for a permissive environment.

So, for example, in the World Cup, just going back to where we started, we can see that there are players there

who have been charged with rape and assault or who are awaiting trial.

We can see the sort of violence of sexual allegations and domestic abuse that have been rife across the footballing world over the past sort of year.

And

you know, we don't see enough challenge there and we don't see enough ownership from these really important cultural institutions that shape the way that people think about these issues, particularly shape the way that young men and boys think about these issues.

We don't see them addressing it.

So it's not, see, I've talked a lot about the responsibility of government, but there's also a wider societal responsibility, particularly where institutions can wield influence over culture.

I think it's so important that they grasp this issue to ensure that players, fans, the people that they are working with in the community settings understand that talking about the importance of men and being good role models for boys is key.
