The International Energy Agency was created after the 1973 Arab oil embargo and conducts research on energy markets.

In recent years, it's focused on the big goal in the Paris Climate Agreement, zeroing out greenhouse gases by 2050.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright, speaking in Paris, said the IEA was behaving like a climate advocacy organization and should return to its fossil fuel roots.

IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol says he met with Wright in Paris and that it was a very positive meeting.

The market context we are in is also helping Europe, creating a room of manoeuvre such as huge amount of LNG, liquefied natural gas, coming to markets starting from 2026 through 2030.

So there will be a lot of alternatives to Russian gas for European countries.

Russian gas over dependences started in 1970s when Europe wanted to diversify from Middle East oil, went to another supplier to Russia.

And I very much hope that Europe now learn its lesson.
