I suppose the argument will be made, people might think, Well, it seems like you knew that there would be no parking when you you went to rent or buy the house in the area.
Unfortunately so, and one example is in Stony Badder at the former O'Geviny Garden site now known as Montpellier.
It's a development of more than one thousand homes, one thousand and forty-six to be exact, but there are just um two hundred and seventy-six car parking spaces.
So to put it simply, there's roughly one parking space for every four homes.
Um now, David, obviously this issue actually was raised by councillors in the area when the development
Was being planned back in 2021 and there were concerns that were noted that a lack of the parking could push the problem into surrounding areas.
And four years later we can obviously see that it has.
But due to the estate's close proximity to the city centre.
Many of these homes were intended to be car-free, and while buyers and renters were told about this, it was highlighted beforehand.
One of the residents I spoke with says that the model isn't realistic for everyone, and he's hoping that Dulblin City Council can come up with some solutions.

Well, that texture has obviously jumped the gun because we were actually just getting to that.
Um, it's a concern that's been raised in other parts of Dublin as well.
And I spoke to Kay Keene, a councillor for Talla South, who says not only is public transport in her constituency not sufficient enough for the number of people now living there, but it's also not 100% reliable, as I'm sure other listeners will exp um have experienced.
And she's actually been working with South Dublin County Council on longer term um transport.
transport strategies and she hopes that this could help reduce the pressure on parking.
It doesn't seem like that will happen anytime soon.
Um, Orla Heggerty, an assistant professor in the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy at UCD, says that actually over the last decade, homes are being built, um, homes that are being built now are becoming smaller.
And this has naturally had a knock-on effect to the amenities around these homes, and parking's one of them.
She also says that because a lot of the planning policy is now more focused on active traffic.
