What can be done?

Is this something that we're going to see get even worse in the future, or will developers really start having to listen to people and take these issues into account?

Morning David.

Well, as you can probably hear, there's plenty of traffic behind me because, as you mentioned, I'm here at Dublin Port Tolka Esthery Greenway.

And it's a busy route used by both cyclists and e-scooter riders.

And from what I've seen this morning, it's been a kind of a mixed bag when it comes to people following the new rules.

Um, as you mentioned, from today, e-scooter users are required to wear both a helmet and high visibility clothing.

But a number of the riders I've seen this morning haven't been wearing either.

Many have been dressed in dark clothing, without the high-vis, and I've seen several that just haven't been wearing helmets.

And I should add, David, that there have been a good few e-scooter users that have a whiz by me.

And I don't think that they're doing speeds that are 20 kilometers per hour.

It seems like they're going much faster, probably as fast as some of the cars here on this route.

But I have seen other e-scooter users, and although they have been far and few between, they have been wearing

Both the appropriate high-vis clothing and a helmet.

So I spoke to one of them who told me that at times it feels like he's kind of the only person obeying the new rules today.

And so far, while you've been on your journey to work, have you seen anyone any other e scooterists um in the high vers in the helmet?

And what do you think about that?

Do you think it's a bit foolish?

I did bump into someone who said that he believes it should be a personal choice.
