Um, but I've had my own share of sufferings and I think the most recent one was my mom's death.

So what do I do to maintain that friendship with Jesus that allows me to remain joyful?

I think a lot of it's about honesty.

And uh, you know, and you were talking earlier about

You know, being honest with God and

Um being sad with God and

I think during my mom's illness it was really

just saying I'm r I'm really angry or I'm really frustrated or I don't know what to do.

And then also looking for signs of God's presence.

I really think you were talking about people reaching out to you as part of the body of Christ and and I think that's where the Jesuit practice of the examination of conscience where you review the day is super helpful.

So during my mom's final illness and her death and the funeral and all that, um

It was seeing places where

God was reaching out to me, through friends primarily, I would say, but also through the sacraments, um, through nature.

And then I know this is gonna sound pr probably not theology 302, but maybe uh sort of elementary theology.

I know we shouldn't look for signs 'cause I think that can be

self defeating, you know, if I if this if this leaf falls in front of me, that means everything's gonna be okay.

But I do think that there are

signs that are kind of unmistakable.
