paying the taxes for the infrastructure we need for this really aged population.
And so we already have a productivity issue.
We peaked our productivity as a country in 1971, so a while ago.
And so we haven't really adapted.
And a lot of productivity is driven by the technologies that we adopt, and we are very slow adopters.
although historically we were early adopters.
So we've had this really weird.
We were, you know, the number eight wire.
We were the innovators of the world.
We had some of the fastest internet when it first came out, you know, middly at the dial-up stage.
We've had some really interesting innovations which we've shaped, and as other nations get hold of it, they supersede us.
They leapfrog way ahead of us, and we continue sort of on a slow kind of adoption.
And digital was a really good example that when COVID hit,
The number of businesses that were still without a website or without any ability to do e-commerce was extraordinary.
And, you know, I was on a very big mission right at that through those years trying to help digitise SMEs so that they could continue to survive.
And, you know, the good thing is there was a pretty good upsurge of digital adoption through that period.
But it's also a number of people are still operating without that.
They still expect someone to walk past their shop window and walk in and buy something, which in today's world, it just doesn't work that way.
