So first of all, we're extremely multicultural.

In fact, on the way here, I was just hearing about how Northswear, the town of Northswear, was called Northswear because it was founded in New Zealand by the Nordics or the Norwegians.

I didn't know that.

And I was thinking, gosh, I didn't really think about the Norwegians coming in 1870 or Danny Burke with the Danes.

You know, the same sort of thing.

These are histories we've had.

We often think about more recent times where we've had migrants who are particularly from India and from China and kind of closer nations.

We're a history that's had long trading partnerships all over the world.

And so that's really playing out in terms of how we look.

But most prominently is the beauty that we have of our cultural background with Māori and actually the population of Māori growing, even though the birth rate is declining across all groups, and Pacific coming into New Zealand in more recent times as well.

So our

Change from being a European-centric country to being a very multicultural country is happening right in front of our eyes.

In fact, if you go into high schools, for example, on the north shore of Auckland, you will see an absolute prevalence of people with an Asian background, whether they be first or second generation.

We also have an aging population.

So right now, our biggest population is over 60.

And so our replacement of children now, instead of having 2.1 babies per woman at replacement rate, we're down at 1.5 and declining, like most of the developed world.

So it means that right now we only have four people working in the workforce.

for every person who is retired who's getting a super.

So historically it was seven, then six, then five, now it's four.

It's heading to two to one.
